Project 001 Lisbon, Portugal
The Courtyard House
A single-storey residence reorganized around a planted courtyard, so that every room borrows its light and its calm.
- Location Lisbon, Portugal
- Year 2025
- Size 210 m²
- Status Completed
The brief
The house had been divided into small, dark rooms that turned away from the garden. We removed the corridor spine, opened the plan toward the courtyard, and let the main rooms share one continuous line of light. Lime plaster walls, oak joinery, and travertine floors carry the palette from room to room.
Storage, seating, and thresholds were drawn as one family of details, so the architecture and the furniture read as a single decision. The courtyard itself was planted with an olive tree and low grasses, and every principal room now opens onto it.

Words from the client
“We asked for light and storage. Stillform gave us a house that feels twice its size and completely calm. A year in, it keeps getting better.”
